Fire Ban Lifted effective 12:01 am on May 16

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has announced that it is prepared for the wildfire season during COVID-19.

As such, at 12:01 am on May 16, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is lifting the Restricted Fire Zone designation across the fire region.

As a result, the Town of Mattawa Total Fire Ban will be lifted at 12:01 am on May 16.

The purchase of Recreational Open-Air Burning Permits will not be available until the municipal office re-opens however we remind you to follow the rules of the permits. Do not ignite any fire between 6am and 6pm. The fire season period begins April 1st to the last day of October.
