2017 Christmas Parade of Lights !

The Christmas Parade of Lights was held on Saturday November 25th. It started @ 6:00 pm at the nursing home and made its way to Mike Rodden Arena.

The Mattawa Fire Department float has been updated. New reindeer signed up this year and took their place at the front of the sled !

First responders including the police, EMS, and firefighters participated in the parade. Businesses, organizations, and residents from Mattawa and the surrounding townships joined the parade on floats and foot. Mattawa Fire Department would like to sincerely thank all participants for their efforts. Each year, prizes are awarded for best float, $100.00 for 1st place, $75.00 for 2nd place, and $50.00 for 3rd place.

This year, F.J.McElligott Voyageurs, Mattawa Mental Health Support Centre, Mattawa Rockets, Foodland, École Élémentaire Catholique Sainte-Anne and École Secondaire Catholique Élisabeth-Bruyère, St. Alban Anglican Church, Home Hardware, Papineau Cameron Fire Department and Gingras RC entered in the competition.

The Mattawa Rockets took 1st place. Thanks to the coaching staff and parents for making the kids part of this! Thanks to sponsors that supported the Mattawa Rockets with the float, Anderson Trucking and Twiggs and Berries! Rumour has it that the awesome cheering by the participating kids helped with the 1st place finish!

The Papineau Cameron Fire Department took 2nd place with their Lego costumes. Their float displayed the fire safety message that was promoted by the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office this year in Fire Prevention Week, Have two ways out!.

Richard Gingras took 3rd place with a collection of remote control cars.

Santa and the reindeer took up the rear of the parade.


Fun was had by all parade attendees at the arena! Many thanks to all families that came out to support the event! Free skating was enjoyed!

Refreshments were served.

Santa chatted with the kids and handed out!

We invite Mattawa and surrounding townships to make this bigger and better next year!

2017 Christmas Parade

The Mattawa Fire Department Santa Claus Parade will be held on Saturday
November 25th @ 6:00 pm

The parade will start at the Nursing Home and proceed to Mike Rodden Arena.

Free skating for everyone from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Mike Rodden Arena.

Refreshments will be served.

Santa will be there handing out to all the kids!

$5,500 Bingo @ Mike Rodden Arena in Mattawa !

Mattawa residents and visitors for Mattawa Voyageur Days try your luck at BINGO!

The Mattawa Fire Department will be hosting the annual bingo on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Mike Rodden Arena. The bingo starts at 12:00 pm. Arrive early to get a seat!

In addition to the bingo prizes, there will be multiple draws for sponsor provided products.

Also a great chance to win the 50/50 draw!

Annual hockey tournament

Register your team for the annual hockey tournament organized by the Mattawa Firefighters Association. The dates for the 2017 tournament are March 3rd, 4th & 5th. Games will be played at Mike Rodden Arena in Mattawa.

There will be a dance on Saturday night upstairs at Mike Rodden arena starting at 8:00 pm until 1:00 am. Tickets are $5.00 each at the door and limited to the first 225 people. Music will be provided by Dan Sigouin D.J. Services.

Donation to Mattawa Minor Hockey Association

MMHA Director Dan Landriault thanks Mattawa Fire Chief Chad Belanger for the donation from the Mattawa Firefighters Association. The funds were used to purchase trainer duffel bags for each division in the league, six (6) bags in total. Each bag has a custom label identifying the division and the logos for the Mattawa Rockets and the Mattawa Fire Department.

The funds were also used to fill the bags with items custom fitted for the age group in each division. Items that can be found in each bag include a spare neck guard, mouth guard, skate laces, helmet repair kit, skate stone and quick sharpener, helmet chin strap, shin tape, stick tape and spare medical supplies for first aid kits.

It is partnerships like these that the Mattawa Firefighters Association values. We appreciate Mattawa Minor Hockey Association reaching out to us to support them with making the on ice experience safer for players of all ages!
